Welcome (back ? ) to what damnage was, and probably will be for quite a long time.
I've tried several different blogging platforms in the past year, trying to replace this set of scripts, and met with dismal failure in all of it. I like to tinker too much, I guess. I like to be hands-on when it comes to scripting. I don't want close approximations. I don't want something I can work with. I don't want something I can live with. I want what I want. A word of advice to anyone who likes to do stuff like this: Joomla is a worthless, insecure, piece of garbage. It should be avoided like the plague it is. Don't ever use it. Your server will be hacked through one of its numerous security exploits. It's just bad. |
I've also tried deals like Drupal and Wordpress - they're just not flexible enough for my taste. I like to be proactive. I like to dig into scripts and make them do what I want. There's a lot of bloat in CMS stuff that's around these days. I like lightweight things that get the job done.
Anyway...
damnage is ten years old! Can you believe it? That makes me...
Nevermind...
Mallery's twenty-four years-old, and she's my fiancé (Can you believe it?
Anyway...
...damnage does everything it used to do. I've set it up a bit differently this time though.
For those of you who used to read my random rants, they're (obviously) no longer on the front page. They have a section of their own.
The front page (what you're reading now) will remain largely static, only being updated when bigger things happen.
I've also incorporated photo galleries into their own section, and have done away with using a coppermine script on damnage.net for my photographic endeavors. Everything's located on damnage.com, utilizing a lightweight little photo gallery/slideshow script I wrote myself.
Damnage.Com and .Net are pretty much one in the same now. .Com largely handles the public face of the network, and .Net mainly handles the behind the scenes stuff - as it should. If I can ever get a hold of .Org again, I dunno - I won't pay like a thousand dollars for it, dickweed, so you can give up on that idea. I'm more than happy, patient, and content to wait until it becomes available again. Try my patience, it's endless. I could buy it twenty years from now, at the normal fee, and be happy when I get it.
Yeah...
Anyway...

In the near future, I'm planning on offering product reviews and tutorials. Stuff like: how to set up a network of IP cameras to broadcast live feeds on the web. *LOL* I don't even want to know what some people would do with that information, but here's what I do with it:
I'm a big fan of Trendnet cameras, and I feel they get something of a bad rap on the web that's totally undeserved. Incidentally, I have no plans to bring back, archived or otherwise, the original blogs that used to be here. It's been too long, and I'm a much different person from the guy who wrote those things. For one thing, I've been completely sober for more than a year now. I don't drink, period. Also, long after I'd quit, I was diagnosed with severe stage 4 hypertension. I take three different medications for it - so now, I can't drink. My kidneys would probably explode from it... |

Anyway...
Damnage - enjoy it. Comment on it. This is what I do for fun when Mallery's asleep...
